In a clash of Group A heavyweights, Zambia showed immense character to rescue a 1-1 draw against a dominant Mali side at the Mohammed V Stadium.

Mali dominated much of the proceedings and finally took the lead through Lassine Sinayoko in the 61st minute.

Zambia, who have struggled to find a win at the AFCON since their 2012 glory, looked destined for defeat until Leicester City’s Patson Daka rose highest in the 92nd minute to power home an equalizer.

Earlier in the game, Zambian keeper Willard Mwanza had kept his side in the hunt by saving a first-half penalty from Bilal Toure.
