KAMPALA – The “Tax Collectors” have officially hit the road. Uganda’s URA FC began their long journey to the spice islands of Zanzibar on Saturday, boarding the team bus to represent the Pearl of Africa in the prestigious 2026 Mapinduzi Cup.
While the squad is currently navigating the hundreds of miles across East Africa, the excitement back home is already at a fever pitch.

The tournament, which honors the Zanzibar Revolution, is scheduled to kick off Sunday December 28, 2025, and will run until January 13, 2026.
The Task Ahead: Group A
Waiting for URA FC in the Isles is a “Group of Death” scenario. Once they cross the Indian Ocean, the Tax Collectors will have to find their “sea legs” quickly to face:

Mlandege FC: The local defending champions who are always tough to beat on home soil.
Azam FC: The Tanzanian giants and perennial favorites.
Singida Black Stars FC: An ambitious side packed with regional talent.

The Road to Glory
Traveling by bus to such a high-stakes tournament is a test of endurance and team bonding. For the technical bench, the immediate priority upon arrival in Zanzibar will be player recovery. The humid coastal climate and the fatigue of the road will be the first “opponents” URA must overcome before they even kick a ball.
