Busabala, Uganda – The sand at Samaki Beach was set ablaze this past weekend as the fourth edition of the End of Year Women Beach Soccer Festival reached a thrilling climax. In a display of tactical discipline and sheer grit, Prison Ladies successfully defended their crown, proving once again why they are the team to beat in Ugandan beach soccer.

The victory marks the second consecutive title for the “Wardresses,” who navigated a competitive five-team field to finish the tournament unbeaten.

The Road to Glory
The tournament, organized by the Uganda Beach Soccer Association (UBSA), featured a round-robin format involving Lubiri She Falcons, She Maroons, KJT, Makindye Ssabaggabo, and the eventual champions.

Prison Ladies kicked off their campaign with intent, securing a narrow but vital 1-0 win over Makindye Ssabaggabo. They maintained their momentum in the second fixture, grinding out another 1-0 victory against a resilient KJT side.

Their dominance continued as they saw off debutants Lubiri She Falcons in their third match. The champions then wrapped up their campaign with a strategic 0-0 draw against their “sister club,” She Maroons.

The result was enough to catapult them to the top of the table with 10 points from four matches, sealing their status as back-to-back champions.

Final Standings & Notable Debuts
While Prison Ladies took the gold, the story of the day was the impressive debut of Lubiri She Falcons.

The newcomers stunned the established sides to finish in second place with eight points, marking them as a team to watch in the 2026 season.

KJT secured the third spot with four points, followed by She Maroons in fourth (3 points), while Makindye Ssabaggabo anchored the table with two points.

Celebrating Women’s Beach Soccer
The awards ceremony was presided over by Mr. Benard Mukasa, the Chairman of the UBSA Competitions Committee. While handing over the trophy, Mukasa lauded the growth of the women’s game.

“This festival is more than just a competition; it’s a celebration of the talent in women’s beach soccer. Seeing the level of skill from both veterans like Prison Ladies and newcomers like She Falcons gives us great hope for the future of the Sand Cranes,” Mukasa told Roramedia.

As the 2025 calendar closes on the sand, the focus now shifts to the upcoming national league, with Prison Ladies firmly established as the queens of the beach.
