Kenya Premier League Record champions Gor Mahia showcased why they are the team to beat this season, staging a sensational second-half comeback to defeat a stubborn Bidco United 2-1 at the Kasarani Stadium on Saturday.

In a match defined by late drama and high emotional stakes, the league leaders overcame a goal deficit and a late red card to their captain to secure three vital points in their quest for the title.

The match began with Bidco United looking to replicate their first-leg success against the champions. The Thika-based side took a deserved lead in the 26th minute when Brian Mboya found the back of the net, silencing the vocal “Green Army”. Bidco’s disciplined defense held firm for the remainder of the half, leaving Gor Mahia head coach Charles Akonnor with plenty to ponder at the break.

Gor Mahia emerged for the second half with renewed intensity. The pressure finally told in the 58th minute when Ghanaian import Kofi Ebenezer leveled the scores with a clinical finish, thanks toe Ebenezer Adukwaw assist.

As the game ticked deep into stoppage time, it appeared both sides would share the spoils. However, in the 99th minute, Paul Ochuoga became the hero of the day, slotting home the winner to spark wild celebrations in the stands.

The victory was not without cost. Just a minute after the winning goal, Ochuoga received a yellow card for removing his shirt during the celebration. Gor Mahia were then reduced to ten men when their captain received a red card in the 100th minute.

Despite the numerical disadvantage for the final seconds, K’Ogalo held on to claim their revenge after losing 1-0 to Bidco earlier in the season.
