Mawokota Ssaza FC has officially confirmed the committee that will oversee preparations for the 2026 Masaza Cup campaign.
The announcement was made on Thursday evening at the Mawokota Ssaza headquarters in Kamengo, Butoolo by Acting Kayima Owek. Hajji Hassan Kagga, who unveiled a nine-member organizing committee. Hon. John Bosco Lubyayi Sseguya has been appointed as Team Manager, while Ronald Kavuma will serve as the Chairperson.
Mawokota, three-time Masaza Cup champions, have entrusted Solomon Mwanja with the role of Chief Executive Officer, a position he also held during the 2024 campaign. Hassan Waswa has been named Media Officer, while Francis Kidaaga will handle financial matters as Treasurer.
Other members of the committee include Nathan Kivumbi (Vice Chairperson), Swaibu Kiyingi (Technical Director), Nicholas Ssengooba (Team Doctor), and John Agaba (Head of Defence and Security).
While addressing the committee, Hajji Kagga emphasized the importance of discipline and strongly warned against acts of hooliganism. He noted that the entire committee would be dissolved if high standards of discipline are not maintained throughout the tournament.
The committee is still in the process of vetting a Patron, whose name will be announced at a later date.
Speaking to the media, Chairperson Ronald Kavuma expressed confidence in the team’s ambitions:
“I am happy to be back with a winning team, and we are ready to compete for this year’s Masaza Cup. I am a hardworking person and promise to deliver as a united team. Our target is to win the championship in 2026.”
The 2026 Masaza Cup is scheduled to kick off on 13th June 2026, with defending champions Buweekula Ssaza set to host the opening match.
Mawokota reached the quarterfinals of the 2025 edition but were eliminated by the two times masaza cup champions ssingo.
