The 2024 BAL champions Petro De Luanda are back in the semis for the sixth time in a row

Petro de Luanda has secured its place in the semi-finals of the Basketball Africa League after defeating Dar City 83-69 in the deciding game played at the BK Arena today.

After losing the first game by six points, the Angolan champions responded strongly with a 14-point win to advance to the next stage and continue their dream of winning the BAL championship.

Chasson Randle led Petro de Luanda with 20 points, while Yanick Moreira added 16 points and 5 rebounds in a solid all-round performance.

Despite the defeat, Dar City has earned praise for a solid first season in the BAL becoming the first-ever Tanzanian team to compete in the tournament.

Other Tanzanian teams like Pazi, ABC and Kurashi, tried and fell short in the qualifiers.

Petro who lifted the 2024 BAL trophy the last time they played in Kigali, returned to the Rwandan capital as favorites and will face Al Ahly in the semifinals in a rematch of the 2024 BAL Final.
