The highly anticipated 22nd edition of the Airtel Masaza Cup is set to kick this Saturday at Mubende National Teachers College (NTC), Mubende with Kabaka Ronald Mutebi II expected to preside over the opening ceremony has reigning Champions Buweekula will lock horns with the 2008 champions Kyaddondo .
All eyes will be on defending Champions Buweekula as they aim to achieve ahistoric feat becoming the first team to Successfully defend thier title, having lifted thier maiden masaza cup title last year edging Ssingo 1-0 in the final.

The kayima boy’s Under new head coach Kyobe Ibrahim and captain Patrick Kagulire has undergone significant changes since their last triumph. The team has signed new players, including Ayman Twaha Toure, Brian Muwayire, and Ibrahim Ssenkungu .A positive start at home will be crucial in their bid to retain the crown.
Among the notable new faces were Livingston Kaweesi from Kyaddondo, Denis Konde, Bosco Kanyike, and Williams Kafeero from Gomba. The club has also secured the services of Peter Ssemyalo and Martin Sseguya from Buluuli, while Charles Musisi joins from Bugerere.

Also Comfirms the departing experienced players and thier head coach Flix Ssekabuzza and and assistant coach Davis Nono while players include striker Shafiq Sonko, midfielder Mike Kayongo, center-backs Calvin Pariyo and Jonathan Luyonde, as well as Collins Ssemanda, Martin Kayemba, Shafic Nyanzi ,Fahad Aniku and Jimmy kalema who joins kitara fc among others.
On another side the 2008 Kyandondo champions under the guidance of Coach bright nyanzi in the last season squad only four players are in the current squad include Abaasi Muluya Junior, and Enock Ssekatawa, alongside goalkeeper Ashiraf Bwabye, defender Alex Kiyaga, and winger Alex Mutebi.

The extensive list of new signings includes Kenneth Ssebaduka from Bulemeezi; Isaac Apenyo, Calvin Otim, and Mumbeere Abdul Razak from Gomba; Hamza Kalibwami from Busiro; and Trevor Kalule from Buvuma, who notably requested the captain’s armband as part of his transfer contract.
The clash revives memories of last season, when Buweekula beat Kyandondo twice in the Masengere group, 2-0 in Mubende and 2-1 at Kyandondo’s home ground, Hamz stadium Nakivubo .

The rivals have been drawn together again this time in Bulange group, alongside buvuma, Buddu, Bussuju and Buluuli .
Although in 2023 and 2019, Kyadondo surprised many and reached the semi-finals, it was only in 2011 and 2012, that the team reached the quarters and semis respectively. From 2013 to 2017, they did not qualify out of the groups. Such was the case in 2018 and 2020.
Gates will be open at 2026 Masaza Cup Finals will be open by 8 am with Ordinary tickets going for UGX 15,000 and VIP UGX 50,000.
