The 2026 Buganda Masaza Cup kicked off Saturday, June 13, at Mubende NTC Grounds, with defending champions Buweekula and Kyaddondo battling to a 0-0 draw.
It was an energetic, end-to-end opener, but neither side could find the breakthrough. Kyaddondo forward Abbas Muluya proved a constant menace, repeatedly testing Buweekula’s backline. The champions held firm to claim a point in the tournament’s curtain-raiser.

The first half belonged to standout performers Kenneth Ssebaduka of Kyaddondo and Buweekula’s Denis Konde, who both impressed with sharp runs and midfield control.
After the break, the contest stayed balanced. Buweekula created the clearer chances and registered more shots on and off target, but Kyaddondo’s defense refused to crack.

Kyaddondo captain Trevor Kalule earned Man of the Match honors for his timely tackles, crucial clearances, and commanding leadership.
Buweekula, winners in 2025, sit in the Bulange Group alongside Kyandondo, Buddu, Busujju, Buluuli, and islanders Buvuma.
The 2026 Masaza Cup runs for roughly three months, with 18 counties chasing the title. The final is set for October.
