Hassan Alwi Jr put up a masterclass fight on Friday June 19,2026 to win day one of the KCB SMC Masaka Rally in Masaka district.
The International University of East Africa director navigated by Musa Nsubuga in afford Fiesta Proto put up a spirited fight to win a strong opposition from Duncan Mubiru Kikankane who started the first stage of the day with flying times.
Kikankane won the first and second stage, but Alwi kept the chase alive and in the third stage, he overturned the lead to claim the top spot after the super Special Stage at Nabugabo Sand Beach.
Jonas Kansiime co-driven by Kesh Bukenya are second, with 30 seconds behind Alwi, while four-time National rally Champion Ronald Sebuguzi is in third position.
Alwi posted a total time loss of 27minutes,16.72 seconds (27:16.72) to beat closest challenger Jonas Kansimme 27 minutes,46.14 seconds (27:46.14).
Duncan Mubiru came fourth while Moses Lumala is in fifth position with two seconds behind Duncan Mubiru.
So far, 28cars out of the 30 completed day one while two dropped out but with one having an option of the restart on Saturday in the Sembabule Stages.
