The dust is finally flying in Teso.
Round 4 of the KCB National Rally Championship, the EMC Soroti-Katakwi Rally, got underway today, marking the first time a national rally has ever been held in the region.
29 crews passed scrutineering and are now tackling three days of brand-new roads across Soroti, Amuria and Katakwi. With zero prior pace notes, every driver starts on equal ground on 289.66km of route, with 136.02km of it competitive.
Day 1: New Roads, New Challenge
Action starts with two proper tests before the crowds get involved.
First up is the 10.65km Segamu stage, followed by the longer 17.16km IUEA stage. Both are fast, sweeping and dusty community roads that will reward commitment and clean notes.
From there, crews head into Soroti City for the Capt. Mukula Stage. Run at Soroti City Sports Ground, it will act as the event’s super special — short, spectator-friendly, and the first real chance for fans to see the cars side-by-side.
The Bigger Picture
Organized by Eastern Motor Club (EMC) under FMU, this rally isn’t just another round. It’s a first for Teso, and the roads are expected to be fast and punishing, with long straights and sudden technical sections linking Soroti to Katakwi.
By Sunday, drivers will have covered the full 289.66km.
With 29 starters and no home advantage, the championship fight in Teso is wide open from stage one.
