The second round of the 2026 Masaza Cup resumed with nine exciting fixtures as Butambala, Bugerere, Kyaggwe, Ssese and defending champions Buweekula all secured crucial victories to boost their hopes of reaching the knockout stages.
A total of nine goals were scored across the nine matches, while only two games ended goalless.
Busujju and three-time champions Buddu settled for a 0-0 draw at Kakindu Playground, while Mawogola and Kabula also shared the spoils in a goalless encounter at the Ssaza Grounds.
Defending champions Buweekula returned to winning ways with a hard-fought 1-0 home victory over Buluuli at Mubende NTC. Mark Nsubuga scored the decisive goal to hand the holders maximum points.
Table leaders Butambala also bounced back after their 1-1 home draw against Kooki on Matchday Five, defeating the same opponents 1-0 away at St. James SS. Shaban Gyagenda netted the winning goal as Simon Peter’s side maintained their unbeaten run to remain at the summit of the Muganzirwazza Group.
Bugerere also rediscovered their winning touch with a narrow 1-0 home victory over Ssingo at Ntenjeru Ssaza Ground. Mike Katumwa struck the only goal of the game just before the half-hour mark.
Tournament favourites Kyaggwe secured an important 1-0 away win over Bulemeezi at Kasana, Luwero, to move to the top of the Masengere Group with 13 points. David Mugalu’s powerful header proved enough to earn the Bukujja Warriors all three points.
Record champions Gomba were held to a 1-1 draw by 2022 champions Busiro at Kabulasoke Ssaza Ground. Meddie Kanyike gave the Gomba Lions the lead before Titus Wambedde restored parity for Busiro.
On Saturday, island side Ssese claimed a priceless 1-0 victory over three-time champions Mawokota at Lutoboka Playground. Steven Otim Eseuna scored the only goal of the match to hand the islanders a vital three points.
Meanwhile, Kyaddondo and Buvuma shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw at Wampewo St. Paul Playground. Sam Ssemungugu converted from the penalty spot to put the 2008 champions ahead before Buvuma equalised through Naiman Shafik .

The annual championship is organised by the Buganda Kingdom through the Ministry of Sports, Leisure and Recreation. Over the years, the tournament has grown into one of Uganda’s most celebrated football competitions, attracting huge crowds and showcasing the passion of Buganda’s football-loving communities.
