Drama, agony, and pure jubilation defined a monumental night at the Moulay El Hassan Stadium as Cameroon booked their spot in the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) final, defeating host nation Morocco 3-1 in a nerve-wracking penalty shootout following a 0-0 deadlock after extra time.
The night belonged to a single name: Michaely Bihina. The Cameroonian goalkeeper put on a masterclass between the posts, etching her name into continental football folklore by stopping four penalties in total to quiet the home crowd and carry the Indomitable Lionesses to the brink of glory.
Bihina posted a performance for the history books! Despite Morocco dominating possession and pressing hard before their passionate home fans, Cameroon’s backline held firm across 120 grinding minutes.
The defining moment of regulation/extra time came in the 118th minute when Sakina Ouzraoui won a late penalty for the hosts.
With the stadium on its feet expecting a dramatic local winner, Bihina produced a world-class save to deny Fatima Tagnaout and keep Cameroon’s dream alive.
As the match moved into the dreaded shootout, Bihina’s heroics were far from over. She denied three more Moroccan penalty takers, suffocating the hosts’ spot-kickers with sheer presence and reflexes.
Cameroon’s penalty takers held their nerve, completing a 3-1 shootout triumph to secure their spot in the WAFCON final.

Cameroon will now clash with tournament surprise package Malawi in Sunday’s grand finale in Rabat.
The Scorchers continued their fairytale debut campaign earlier on Wednesday by defeating Algeria 3-1 in the other semi-final, courtesy of a brace from superstar Tabitha Chawinga and a goal from her sister Temwa Chawinga.
Meanwhile, host nation Morocco will have to regroup quickly to face Algeria in Saturday’s 3rd-place playoff before handing over the main stage to the tournament’s two best side.
