Kawempe Muslim Ladies WFC are the champions of East Africa! The Ugandan giants clinched the 2026 CECAFA CAF Women’s Champions League title after a dramatic 1-0 extra-time victory over Kenya Police Bullets FC on Monday afternoon at the Kigali Pelé Stadium in Nyamirambo.
Captain Agnes Nabukenya etched her name into regional football folklore, popping up in extra time to score the decisive goal after a brilliant setup by Anitah Namata.
Nabukenya’s championship-winning strike marked her fourth goal of the tournament, putting the perfect exclamation point on a dominant campaign.
The victory ensures Kawempe Muslim WFC will officially represent the CECAFA zone at the upcoming CAF Women’s Champions League final tournament.
CBE Claim Bronze in Seven-Goal Thriller
In the third-place playoff held earlier at the same venue, Ethiopia’s CBE Women put on a masterclass, crushing South Sudan’s Yei Joint Stars 6-1 to secure the bronze medal.
Moureen Nankinga briefly put Yei Joint Stars on the scoresheet in the 36th minute, but six different goal scorers propelled CBE to an emphatic win:
Etsegenet Girma Negash (34′), Beshadu Tadese (42′), Mahelet Mitiku Bekele (49′), Emush Daniel Dandamo (75′), Mihiret Ayele Abebe (77′) and Rediet Matios (83′) nette CBE’s goals of the day.
