MTN Uganda has injected UGX 15,000,000 into Ponsiano Lwakataka “Mafu Mafu’s” fundraising campaign ahead of his 25th Anniversary Sprint on 20th September at Garuga.
The telecom giant becomes the second major corporate backer for the comeback, after the Ruparelia Group kicked off the UGX 220M drive with UGX 25M.
The Garuga event will be a double celebration — a competitive sprint rally and the grand unveiling of Lwakataka’s new Volkswagen Polo Proto, nicknamed “Akamyu”.

Speaking at the handover, MTN representative Simon Kayiwa announced a big win for fans:
- 50% off entry tickets when you pay with MoMo Pay
- 20% discount on all food and drinks at the venue for MoMo Pay users
Kayiwa added that MTN is going beyond Garuga, with a commitment to power all FMU events with MoMo Ticketing to make access faster and easier for motorsport fans.
The sprint, organized by Southern Motor Club (SMC), is gathering momentum with a huge entry list expected.

SMC President Mayanja Godfrey hailed MTN’s support:
“We thank MTN for honouring our legend and supporting this sprint. With partners like MTN, we are confident of delivering a safe and very successful event for all fans in Garuga.”
