Two Ugandans have been named on the African team for the second edition of the FIM Intercontinental Games, due to take place from 10-13 December 2026 at the Autódromo Internacional Ayrton Senna in Goiânia, Brazil.
The Games bring together riders from the six FIM Continental Unions (CONUs), with Africa set to field teams in Supersport 300, Supersport, and MX2 — with MX2 making its debut in the competition this year.
Uganda will be represented in two key roles:
Milton Obote Akaki, who has been selected to ride for Africa in the MX2 category. He will be part of a four-rider squad captained by South Africa’s Cameron Durow, alongside fellow South African Trey Cox and Zambia’s Caitlin Ann Parkes.
Yasin Semakula, the well-known mechanic for Team Uganda (MX Cranes), has been named on the African support team. He joins an experienced crew of mechanics drawn from across the continent, including Ricardo Morais, Damion Purificati, Victor Keswa, Armando Borges, Andrew Cox, Natasha Rugani, and Stewart Parkes from Angola, South Africa, and Zambia.
The host venue, the Autódromo Internacional Ayrton Senna, features a 3.835km, 12-turn asphalt circuit.
FIM Africa President Marco Comana welcomed the selection:
“It is a great honour for FIM Africa to announce the team that will represent our continent at the FIM Intercontinental Games in Brazil. We have riders from five African countries coming together as one team, which is exactly what an event like this is about.”
