Kawempe Muslim extended their strong dominance in Ugandan women’s football by sweeping the Fortebet Real Stars Monthly Awards, with head coach Ayub Khalifa Kiyingi expressed heartfelt gratitude after receiving the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award winner and captain Agnes Nabukenya taking the Football Player of the Month for August prize.
Four Personalities in basketball and football were rewarded for their outstanding performances in the month August.
Kiyingi earned the Lifetime Achievement Award after guiding Kawempe to winning the CECAFA Women’s Football trophy. While Eighteen-year-old Agnes Nabukenya’s remarkable run continued on Tuesday after she was named the Fortebet Real Stars Footballer of the Month for August, adding another individual accolade to a memorable campaign.
Nabukenya, who was named the Most Valuable Player of the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League CECAFA Zonal Qualifiers, received her award at Nanjing Hotel in Kololo on Tuesday.
The Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC midfielder was instrumental in her side’s triumph at the CECAFA qualifiers in Rwanda, scoring four goals in four matches, including the decisive goal in the final as Kawempe Muslim defeated Kenya Police Bullets 1-0 after extra time.The club consequently qualified for the CAF Champions League, becoming the first club in Uganda to reach this stage.
Kawempe Muslim Ladies’ Football Club captain Agnes Nabukenya was recognised for her success during August, beating two male players, Richard Basangwa and Saidi Mayanja of NEC and Police football clubs, respectively.
In media brief with Rora Media Nabukenya says“I am very grateful that God has enabled me to win this accolade; it is a result of giving everything and is a big push for me together with fellow players,” Nabukenya hinted.
Kawempe Muslim Women Football Club head coach Ayub Khalifah received a Lifetime Achievement Award recognising his 25 years, most of which have been spent nurturing women’s football and female football players.
Other awardees
Matrina Anyango was named the best in women’s basketball, edging Brenda Kayaga and Zoe Atek.
In men’s basketball, Fataki Frank Nyembo of champions Namuwongo Blazers was crowned the best.
Nyembo won the 2026 National Basketball League trophy for the second year running.
He beat Tony Drilleba and Patrick Rembert.
These awards have been held for the past decade, supported by betting firm Fortebet and Jude Colour Solutions, among others.
