2025 Kabaka Coronation Badminton Championship launched

Owek Robert Sserwanga has officially launched the inaugural Kabaka’s 32nd Coronation badminton Championship.

The development took place at Bulange and this year’s games will kick off on Friday 8th to Sunday 10th at the MTN Indoor Arena in Lugogo in Kampala.

The event was graced by the Minister of Arts, Youth and Sports, Serwanga, CEO Uganda badminton association, Simon Mugabi and top Uganda badminton players include Fadilla Shamika, Gladys Mbabazi, Reagan Nsubunga, Muzafuru Lubega and Tracy Naluwooza among others.

While talking about the event, the CEO, Badminton Uganda said, “This competition portrays the future of badminton in the country.”

“Through the support of Buganda Kingdom, we want to make sure Badminton grows. This competition is going to give many players a lot of exposure.”

“Over 200 players are expected to grace inaugural kabaka coronation badminton championship in different categories Juniors (U13, U15, U17 and U19), Professionals /Seniors ( 35-50&50-70 ) and Cooperates.”

Owek Robert Serwanga praised the Uganda Badminton Association for using sport as a platform to drive powerful messages beyond the Court.

“As a kingdom, we place great importance on promoting sports. Not only to nurture talent, but also to foster unity, and improve the health of our people,” Serwanga said.

This year’s tournament is themed around HIV/AIDS awareness, with a strong focus on male responsibility in protecting women from infection. It ties directly to the Kingdom’s ongoing.
