Heart break As Uganda’s badminton Stars fail to Qualify for the 2025 Kampala international future Series tournament Finals

The Uganda’s Elite badminton players faced tough challenge after all failed to Qualify for the 2025 Kampala international future Series tournament finals which began on Thursday 25th September at the Lugogo indoor Arena.

The 4th edition of the annual tournament has attracted Over 180 young badminton enthusiasts from 19 nations that include hosts Uganda, united Arab Emirates, India, Malaysia showcasing the budding talents and skill in different categories competing in Singles, doubles and Mixed doubles.

Uganda’s celebrated youngstar Fadilah Shamika Mohammed was eliminated in the Quarter finals of the women Singles by Indian Srivally Anumula (15-11,15-12) also Fadilah Shamika Mohammed team up with Tracy Naluwooza in women Doubles were defeated Lim Xuan and Joanne (15-9,15-10) points.

Meanwhile Muzafuru Lubega was also defeated by Hein Htut (15-3,15-4) in the men’s singles at the Quarter final Stage while In the mixed doubles Muzafuru Lubega team up with Husina Kobugabe outclassed by Malaysian duo Zi Xiang Chong and Joanne with (15-11,15-10) points while n the Men’s doubles Muzafuru Lubega team up with Aatin Thayani defeated by united Arab Emirates Zaeem Munawar and Nisarg Thunga (16-14,15-6) points.

Uganda’s duo Fred kirabo and Ivan mayega defeated Reagan Nsubuga and Shilton Tayebwa in the highly tense game (16-14,15-13)to storms the semi’s while at the semi finals were defeated by Indian duo D. Mandapati and C.Sundar (15-6,15-8) points.

In another bad scene on the day Uganda’s badminton duo in mixed doubles and women’s doubles failed to turn up these include Ian Senoga and Meble Namakoye in the mixed doubles while Natasha Arinda and Meble Namakoye in women’s doubles and their opponents win walk over.

In the women Doubles Husina Kobugabe and Mbabazi Gladys were beaten by Jenjira Stadelmann and Leila Zarrouk by (15-5,15-8) points while Dorreen Ankunda and Nakintu Elizabeth were defeated by Indians Aheri Paul and Harshita Singh (15-2,15-10).

The four days event is under Badminton World Federation (WBF) is testing a new 3 by 15 scoring system where a match consists of the best of three games , and the first side to score 15 points wins each game .
