The Site Monthly Sports Awards has announced Patrick Ambayo as the winner of the Boxer of the Month for September. Ambayo, a light Welter weight boxer from Boggie Boxing Club, was recognized for his outstanding performance in the month of September .
Ambayo’s impressive win over Denis Muleme from Cobap Boxing Club in the Champions League week 10 and 11 earned him the award.The talented Boxer Ambayo commonly known as Amba,this season 4 of the Boxing Champions League earned himself as the boxer with the large numbers of fans and in his every fight, he brought around 350-400 fans who travel all the way from Adjumani, Luwero, Kyebando, Nebbi and some from South Sudan.
Ambayo who had 2017 votes beat Lukanga’s Reagan Magumba who seems to be the favorites to win this award. Magumba came second with 913 votes while Mawanda Depark from East Coast Boxing Club came third with 312 votes and Edward Mukwaya from Kiwattule Boxing Club came last with 132 votes to take home the accolade and cash prize sponsored by Wide Tours International.
After receiving his award, Ambayo was accompanied by her mother Eva Nantongo, sister Patricia and fans to pick his accolade and cash money at the sponsor’s headquarters ( wide travels deals intl Ltd) in Wandegeya expressed his delight, saying, “It’s my pleasure to win this accolade, my first time to be here, but this has been part of my dream. I believe it’s the start for me to win more accolades, and I’m also eyeing bigger awards.”
The Site Monthly Awards were introduced to recognize the best sporting individuals of the month in different disciplines .
Ambayo now joined the names of those who have won this accolade, the likes of Reagan Magumba who won the May best boxer, Isaac Kasasa from Katabi Boxing Club who won the June best boxer, Kasim Mulungi from East Coast Boxing Club who won the July best boxer and Alex Kanabi from KCCA Boxing Club who won the August best boxer.
