The Uganda national pool teams have made a strong impression at the Ultimate Africa Pool Championships in Mpumalanga, South Africa. The men’s team, led by Caesar Chandiga, topped their group with three wins, including a 20-5 thrashing of Namibia A, a 15-10 win over Namibia B, and an 18-7 victory over Kenya’s Mchana. Chandiga delivered a standout performance, winning all five frames against Namibia A and losing only one frame in each of the other two matches.

Uganda will face Mchana again in the men’s quarterfinals after the Kenyan side squeezed into eighth place. Chandiga and Simon Lubuulwa will look to continue their strong form against the Kenyans.

The Uganda women’s team, however, bowed out of the group stage after losses to South Africa C (8-17), South Africa B (9-16), and Namibia (1-24). Despite missing the quarterfinals, the team will contest the ladies’ final against Namibia on Saturday.

The singles events have begun, and Chandiga is tipped to be a standout contender against Africa’s top talent. With his impressive form, he could go all the way to the top
