SC Villa v Police
SC Villa’s stuttering start to the Uganda Premier League faces another stern examination on Friday when the record champions welcome a confident Police FC to the FUFA Stadium, Kadiba.
While Villa are still searching for their first victory of the season, the mood could not be more different in the Police camp, where belief and momentum are quickly growing. The Cops have quietly built a reputation for resilience, collecting five points from their opening three fixtures and showing the kind of fight that’s been missing in the Jogoos’ ranks.
Their latest display a spirited 2-2 comeback draw against NEC FC underlined their character. Trailing for most of the match, late strikes from Umar Kasumba and Charles Baale rescued a point and reinforced the growing sense that Police are no longer just spoilers but genuine contenders.

Assistant coach Ahmed Borini insists his side has taken key lessons from that game. “We’ve worked hard to fix the mistakes that cost us, especially defensively,” he said. “The response in training has been fantastic, and the players are hungry.”
Villa, meanwhile, are under mounting pressure to deliver. After losing to rivals KCCA and being held by league newcomers Entebbe UPPC, the 16-time champions find themselves already chasing the pack. Coach Dusan Stojanovic will demand a reaction from his senior players, knowing another poor result could deepen early-season frustrations.
For Villa, it’s about rediscovering their identity. For Police, it’s another chance to prove their resurgence is no fluke.
