Gulu City ready to welcome 2WD championship battle

The Uganda 2WD rally category is heating up as crews gear up for the CMC Gulu Rally on October 9-12. The championship is neck-and-neck, with Mansoor Lubega leading with 86.5 points, closely followed by Julius ‘Mukalo’ Ssemambo with 85 points, and Hajji Amir Kavuma in third with 65 points.

Unpredictable Results
The past five events have seen different drivers take the top spot, showcasing the competitive nature of the category. Recent winners include: Edward Kirumira (Mbarara), Ahmed Ssenjonjo (Masaka), Mansoor Lubega (Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally), Sam Watendwa (Bugerere) and Julius Ssemambo (Fort Portal)

Kavuma

The upcoming CMC Gulu Rally will be the penultimate event of the Uganda National Rally Championship. With the championship still up for grabs, drivers will be pushing hard to secure valuable points and gain an edge over their competitors. The event promises to be an exciting and unpredictable ride, with the potential for new winners and dramatic shifts in the championship standings.

Watendwa

In this event, the rally fraternity will pay tribute to the late Rajiv Ruparelia, who died in a road accident four months ago. He was the CMC patron as well as a rally driver.

Kirumira

Drivers will compete in three stages namely; Noblakes (15.01km), Wobbly (27.42km), and the super special stage named after Rajiv Ruparelia (1.96km) one Friday. In the next day they will do five stages; Noblakes (15.01km), Rajiv Ruparelia (18.05km), Pink Panther (13.26km), David Ochaya and KCB Bank (12.12km) and again Rajiv Ruparelia as the Power stage.
