The roar of engines, the scent of burning rubber, and the thrill of speed were all hanging in the air, even before the official announcement. Motorsport enthusiasts across Uganda had been eagerly awaiting news about the upcoming rally season, and KCB Bank Uganda was about to deliver in a big way.

It was a crisp morning at the KCB headquarters along Lugogo by-pass. The atmosphere buzzed with anticipation as journalists, motorsport officials, and bank executives gathered. The big reveal: KCB Bank Uganda had secured the naming rights for this year’s Uganda National Rally Championship calendar events, backing the entire series with a substantial 560 million shillings. This significant investment would fuel all eight thrilling events on the calendar.

Edgar Byamah, the Managing Director of KCB Bank, with a confident smile, handed over a giant dummy cheque to Jimmy Akena, the President of the Federation of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda (FMU). “Motorsport,” Byamah declared, “speaks volumes about KCB’s core values. It embodies technical prowess, exhilarating speed, unwavering discipline, exceptional skill, and the power of teamwork.” This partnership, he emphasized, was not just about financing a sport; it was about boosting motorsport development in Uganda and showcasing the nation’s vibrant cultural heritage.

A total of 34 drivers confirmed participation and are eager to showcasing their skills on the challenging Elgon stages. Some of the participating drivers include Oscar Ntambi, Duncan Mubiru, Yasin Nasser, Ronald Ssebuguzi among others.
