Ronald Ssebuguzi’s story is one for the ages. After 21 years of high-octane racing, he considered hanging up his helmet, but destiny had other plans.

Today, he etched his name into Ugandan rallying history, securing a fourth National Rally Championship (NRC) title and joining the likes of legends Sam Ssaali, Charlie Lubega, and Jas Mangat.

Ssebuguzi’s previous wins were in 2006, 2009, and 2014, but this one was far from easy. He finished fourth in the grueling Kabalega Hoima Rally, which tore through Hoima and Kikuube districts.
“This victory belongs to my family, SRT team, and everyone who believed in me,” he said, humbled. “It’s not easy joining this league, but God made it possible.”

The Hoima Rally was won by Duncan Mubiru ‘Kikankane’, with Musa Ssegaabwe and Umar Dauda taking second and third, respectively. Ssebuguzi’s triumph caps a remarkable comeback proof that with grit and resilience, legends never fade.
