Maroons FC finally rediscovered their spark on Tuesday evening, delivering one of their most polished performances of the season as they brushed aside Lugazi 3–0 in their Uganda Premier League clash.

Instead of the nervous, inconsistent side seen in recent weeks, Maroons stepped onto the Lugazi turf with purpose and confidence, asserting control from the opening whistle. Their early intent paid off almost immediately when Raymond Walugembe glanced in a second-minute header, finishing off a flowing move ignited by Emmanuel Obua.

That early strike set the tone Maroons looked sharper, quicker and far more cohesive than their hosts. Lugazi struggled to match their tempo, and by halftime the visitors were cruising with a 2–0 advantage after Jackson Nunda calmly slotted in the second just after the hour mark, with Walugembe this time turning provider.

Lugazi pushed in the final stages, hoping to mount a late fightback, but Maroons remained organised and unbothered. With three minutes left, substitute Ivan Asaba applied the final touch to a dominant outing, firing home the third to send the travelling fans into celebration.

The result lifts Maroons to 12th place on eight points, now just one behind Lugazi, who sit 10th with nine from their opening seven games.

For the Prison Wardens, this wasn’t just a win—it was a statement that their season may finally be turning a corner.
