KAMPALA – Ugandan Futsal has scored a massive administrative victory. In a move that signals the sport’s growing maturity and influence, four top officials from the Futsal Association of Uganda (FAU) have been strategically appointed to various FUFA Standing Committees for the 2025–2027 term.
The appointments, sanctioned by the FUFA Executive Committee, are being hailed as a major boost for the five-a-side game, embedding futsal expertise directly into the country’s mainstream football administration.
This development reflects the increasing trust and value FUFA is placing in the leaders who have successfully stewarded the development of futsal in Uganda.
Strategic Integration: Where Futsal’s Expertise Will Land
The FAU officials have been placed in committees that are crucial for the commercial, technical, and innovative future of Ugandan football:

The Commercial Front: FAU Chairman Hamza Jjunju and Nansana ASKA CEO Isaac Okolimo will both serve on the influential FUFA Marketing Committee. Their combined experience in leadership, club management, branding, and fan engagement will ensure Futsal has a strong voice in shaping FUFA’s commercial strategy and promotional activities across all disciplines.
Competition Policy: Kalule Abubakar Mayanja, the FAU Competitions Director and Delegate, has secured a crucial role on the FUFA Competitions Committee.
His hands-on experience in running fast-paced futsal competitions is expected to provide valuable practical insight to FUFA’s wider efforts in managing football events nationwide.
Modernizing the Game: FAU CEO Ibrahim Mugera has been tasked with helping lead the charge for change on the FUFA Innovations Committee. His role will be to help drive new ideas, modern administrative systems, and technological improvements aimed at advancing football management in Uganda.
These strategic placements move Futsal from a developing discipline to a recognized powerhouse, with its leaders now actively participating in key decisions governing Ugandan football.
This strong step forward promises not just growth for Futsal, but also a fresh perspective and much-needed expertise being infused across the entire national football ecosystem.
