KAMPALA – Entebbe UPPC delivered one of their most composed performances of the season, outclassing Express FC 2-0 in a lively Uganda Premier League clash at the Bugonga Fisheries playground on Thursday evening.
Unlike previous cagey home outings, UPPC approached this fixture with intent and authority, dictating the game’s tempo from start to finish. Their early dominance nearly paid off when Ambrose Kigozi rose unmarked in the seventh minute but nodded his free header off target.
Express briefly threatened through Richard Basangwa, whose 15th-minute effort shaved the upright, offering a warning that the Red Eagles could still sting on the counter. UPPC responded with adventurous wing play, highlighted by Steven Munguchi’s surging 42nd-minute run that ended with a dipping strike narrowly missing the target.
The breakthrough arrived after the interval as UPPC’s slick interplay finally carved Express open. Samuel Kawawa slipped Noordin Bunjo through on goal, and the midfielder composedly steered home in the 56th minute to ignite the home crowd.
Express almost hit back immediately, but John Asiimwe’s tame finish was comfortably gathered by goalkeeper Rogers Omedwa. That miss proved costly.
With UPPC firmly in control, Kigozi made amends for his early miss by doubling the advantage in the 73rd minute after excellent build-up play led by Isa Bugembe.
By full-time, UPPC had cemented their dominance and climbed to fifth on the table with 17 points. Express, meanwhile, dropped to seventh with 12 points after 10 outings, left to rue missed chances and a second-half collapse.
