FEZ, Morocco – Uganda Cranes defender Jordan Obita says the national team is heading into Tuesday’s final group match against Nigeria with “full belief” that they can pull off a historic result.

The Hibernian defender, who has been a mainstay in the Cranes’ backline this tournament, highlighted the positive atmosphere within the camp despite the team’s precarious position in Group C.
Uganda needs a win to have any realistic chance of progressing to the knockout stages, while Nigeria has already confirmed their passage as group winners.
“The team spirit is high and we shall head into the game with full belief to fight for a win,” Obita declared.
Obita, who previously captained the side during recent preparations, noted that while Nigeria possesses “unbelievable talent,” a collective team effort can neutralize their threats.

The Cranes will be looking to channel the spirit of 1978—the last time they defeated Nigeria in an AFCON match—to secure their survival in Morocco.
