NAIROBI, Kenya – The Kenyan Premier League has a new leader as of Sunday evening. In a stunning “Ingo Derby” upset at the Nyayo National Stadium, Kakamega Homeboyz silenced the league leaders AFC Leopards with a 1-0 victory, leapfrogging six teams to claim the summit of the log.
Teenager Omollo Stuns “Ingwe”
The match was decided almost as soon as it began. With fans still finding their seats, 19-year-old sensation Henry Omollo pounced on a defensive lapse in the 2nd minute to slot home what would be the only goal of the game.

AFC Leopards, who entered the match on a six-game unbeaten run, dominated possession for the remaining 88 minutes but could not find a way past a resolute Homeboyz defense.
The win propels Kakamega Homeboyz to 24 points, where they now sit at the top of the table thanks to a superior goal difference over Leopards and Tusker FC.

Nairobi United Humble Shabana at Gusii
Meanwhile, in Kisii, the “Gusii Fortress” was breached as Nairobi United cruised to a 3-1 win over Shabana FC.
The Stars: Duncan Omala was the hero for the visitors, netting a brace (21′, 58′) to take his season tally into double digits. An unfortunate own goal by James Mazembe in the 44th minute compounded Shabana’s woes.

The Return: Shabana fans had a small reason to smile as Brian Migori returned from a 12-match injury layoff to score a consolation penalty in the 91st minute.

What a fantastic result! It’s great to see Kakamega Homeboyz taking the top spot, truly exciting football.
