KCCA step into unfamiliar territory this afternoon knowing that their position at the top of the Uganda Premier League is anything but secure. The Kasasiro Boys make the short trip to Kira Road Police grounds to take on a Police side that has quietly transformed into one of the season’s most consistent performers.

Rather than chasing the spotlight, Police have built their campaign on discipline and balance, a formula that has lifted them to fourth on the standings with 21 points. Today’s fixture offers them a chance to announce themselves as genuine contenders by unsettling the league leaders on home turf.

KCCA arrive in Kamwokya with confidence after a strong end to 2025 that saw them string together three consecutive league wins. That run pushed them to 26 points from 11 outings and restored belief under the co-coaching partnership of Brian Ssenyondo and Jackson Magera. However, with Vipers breathing down their necks just two points behind and holding a game in hand, any dropped points could immediately prove costly.

Maroons will be visiting Buhimba today.

The visitors are boosted by the return of key personnel from international duty. Forward Ivan Ahimbisibwe, who has already netted five league goals this season, is back after representing the Uganda Cranes at the Africa Cup of Nations. Midfielder Shafik Kwikiriza also rejoins the squad, adding experience and creativity to a side keen to maintain momentum.

Police, on the other hand, ended December in emphatic style with a 3-1 victory over BUL, a result that underlined their progress despite off-field changes following the departure of coach Abbey Kikomeko. Under Matia Lule, the Cops have developed a reputation for resilience, with striker Bedia Djuma Ikamba leading the charge after matching Ahimbisibwe’s five-goal tally.

Veteran figures such as Said Kyeyune and Richard Matovu continue to provide leadership, while the supporting cast has given Police a solid platform to challenge more fancied opponents.

Recent history suggests little will separate the two sides. Last season’s encounters produced a draw and a narrow KCCA win, reinforcing expectations of another tightly contested affair.

Away from Kamwokya, the day’s action continues with Buhimba welcoming Maroons at Royals Park Stadium in Hoima, while attention later shifts to Kitende where Vipers host Mbarara City under the floodlights, a match that could further reshape the title picture.
