The record champions are back where they belong. Gor Mahia officially reclaimed the top spot in the Kenya Premier League (KPL) on Tuesday evening, dismantling a struggling Kariobangi Sharks 4-1 at the Kasarani Stadium.
The match, the sole KPL fixture of the day, served as a powerful statement of intent from K’Ogalo, who used their games in hand to leapfrog Kakamega Homeboyz and AFC Leopards to the summit of the table.

Adukwaw’s Heartfelt Tribute Highlights Dominant Display
While the four-goal haul delighted the Green Army, the emotional highlight of the match belonged to Ghanaian forward Ebenezer Adukwaw. After doubling Gor’s lead in first-half stoppage time (45+2), Adukwaw dedicated the strike to his late mother and father—a touching moment that resonated throughout the stadium.
The scoring clinic began early when Ben Stanley Omondi found the net in the 20th minute. Although Sharks’ Humphrey Aroko Omondi offered a glimmer of hope with a goal in the 57th minute, a late blitz from Samuel Kapen (83’) and Felix Oluoch Mboya (85’) ensured there would be no New Year upset.

The Standings: View from the Summit
With this victory, Gor Mahia moves to 26 points from 13 matches, boasting the best goal difference (+10) in the league.
Meanwhile, the “Sharks” remain rooted at the bottom of the log in 18th place with just 12 points, facing a steep climb to avoid the drop.
