The Uganda Premier League made a sharp and dramatic return from its AFCON 2025 pause, and Police FC ensured the spotlight was firmly on them after a composed 2–0 victory over leaders KCCA FC at the Kira Road Arena on Tuesday.

With domestic football resuming following Uganda Cranes’ brief continental adventure, matchday 12 offered an immediate test of form and focus. Few fixtures carried more intrigue than the clash between the high-flying Kasasiro Boys and a Police side quietly building momentum under head coach Matia Lule.
Rather than showing any signs of rust, the Cops emerged organised, disciplined and confident, matching KCCA stride for stride in a tight first half that was short on clear chances but rich in intensity. The visitors enjoyed spells of possession, but Police remained compact, denying space and waiting patiently for their moment.

That moment arrived shortly after the break. Six minutes into the second half, Brian James Obedi broke the deadlock with a thunderous effort from range after Denis Kalanzi’s header dropped invitingly into his path. The strike lifted the home crowd and shifted the balance of the contest.
KCCA attempted to respond by pushing numbers forward, but their urgency left gaps at the back. Police capitalised just past the hour mark when Congolese forward Bedia Djuma Ikamba struck clinically to double the advantage, a goal that effectively took the sting out of the contest.
Despite a late push from KCCA, including sustained pressure in the closing stages, Police’s defensive unit held firm, showing maturity beyond their years to protect the clean sheet and close out a memorable win.

The result underlines Police FC’s growing credentials this season. The three points propel them into second place on 24 points, level with Vipers SC, who face Mbarara City in their later fixture. For KCCA, the defeat is a rare setback, though they remain top of the standings with 26 points.
As the league settles back into rhythm after the international break, Police FC’s latest performance sends a clear message: they are no longer just chasing, they are firmly in the title conversation.

That’s fantastic news to see Police FC back in action, let’s hope they continue to dominate the league!
