Ugandan football has been thrust back into the spotlight over integrity concerns after FUFA moved swiftly to shield the game from alleged malpractice. Three Buhimba United Saints FC players have been temporarily removed from all football-related activity as authorities deepen inquiries into suspicious circumstances surrounding a recent league fixture.
The action follows red flags raised over the November 8, 2025 encounter between Lugazi FC and Buhimba United Saints. Information gathered by FUFA investigators so far suggests the match may have been compromised, with betting-related manipulation now at the centre of the probe.
Rather than waiting for the process to run its full course, FUFA’s Ethics and Disciplinary structures opted for immediate intervention. By activating provisional measures, the federation aims to preserve confidence in ongoing competitions while investigators piece together the full picture.
The three players—Ayebale Moses, Dudu Ramathan and Nkata Fred—have each been handed a 90-day provisional suspension as investigations continue into possible breaches of Article 43 of the FUFA Ethics and Disciplinary Code, which addresses the manipulation of football matches and competitions.
Beyond football regulations, the matter carries potential legal implications. FUFA has indicated that the alleged conduct may also contravene provisions of the National Sports Act, with the case set to be referred to the Uganda Police for further assessment.
The suspensions remain a precautionary step rather than a final judgment, but they underline FUFA’s increasingly hardline stance on safeguarding the credibility of the game.
