SC Villa left the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru ruing missed chances and defensive lapses after falling 2–1 to BUL in a tense Uganda Premier League clash on Friday.

The game unfolded under punishing heat, forcing a mid-half cooling break, but it was Villa who started brighter, probing BUL’s backline without reward. BUL, however, stayed patient and were eventually rewarded when Alex Kitata rose highest to turn in Walter Ochora’s long throw, giving the visitors a narrow lead before the break.

Villa pushed hard for a response and came agonisingly close just before halftime, only for Patrick Kakande’s goal-bound effort to be cleared off the line. The hosts returned with renewed energy after the interval and were level midway through the second half when Reagan Mpande reacted quickest to guide home after an initial save by Tom Ikara.

Momentum briefly swung Villa’s way, but a moment of misjudgement proved decisive. A delivery into the box caused confusion, and the Villa goalkeeper failed to deal with it, allowing BUL to restore their lead just minutes later.

BUL defended resolutely in the closing stages to see out the win, climbing to seventh on 16 points. Villa, meanwhile, remain fourth with 26 points after 13 matches, left to reflect on a match where small mistakes carried big consequences.
