Kitara FC secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Express FC in a hard-fought Uganda Premier League encounter at Royals Park in Hoima. The game, played on a pristine pitch, showcased a tactical battle between two evenly matched sides.
The first half was cagey, with both teams testing each other cautiously. Kitara FC started brightly, controlling possession early, but Express FC threatened on the counter. Despite multiple corner kicks and free kicks for both sides, neither could break the deadlock before halftime. The referee added two minutes of stoppage time, but the scoreboard remained unchanged.
The second half brought more intensity. Kitara made early substitutions, introducing Emmanuel Wasswa and Crispus Asiki, which refreshed their attack. The breakthrough came in the 56th minute when Gadafi Wahab set up Patrick Kaddu, who calmly slotted home to give Kitara the lead.
Following the goal, Kitara controlled the tempo, fending off Express FC’s attempts to respond. Express FC made tactical changes, bringing on Jimmy Lagoro, Herbert Asiimwe, and Ismael Alli, but could not find the equalizer. Kitara’s defense held firm despite late pressure and several corners.
With this win, Kitara FC climb to fifth on the table with 26 points, 11 points clear of 10th-placed Express FC, who remain in need of a revival to boost their title ambitions.
