BUL v Vipers

A defining Friday night awaits at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru as BUL FC attempt to measure their revival against reigning champions Vipers SC.

Since the return of head coach Alex Isabirye for a third stint, BUL have rediscovered belief, registering four wins in their last five outings across competitions. Their recent Uganda Cup progress has only strengthened confidence within the Jinja-based side, who are eager to translate momentum into league gains.

Currently eighth with 19 points, BUL see the second round as an opportunity to re-enter the conversation for the top places. Their home form offers encouragement — they have not lost to Vipers in Njeru since 2022, building a quiet fortress against the Venoms in recent meetings.

For Vipers, however, the trip comes with pressure attached. A forfeited fixture against Kitara FC trimmed what had been a comfortable lead at the summit to a single point. With Kitara breathing down their necks, coach Ivan Minnaert knows any further slip could tilt the title race.

The champions will lean on the attacking spark of Karim Watambala and Milton Karisa, whose performances have steadied the side in recent weeks. Yet they must also contain BUL’s lively forwards, led by Karim Ndugwa, who have punished visiting teams at Njeru before.

Victory for BUL would underline their resurgence and disrupt the title narrative. For Vipers, three points would restore breathing space at the top and reaffirm their championship credentials.
