Kitara FC head to Bombo on Friday knowing victory could briefly send them to the top of the Uganda Premier League standings when they face struggling UPDF.
The Hoima-based side currently sits second with 39 points, just two behind leaders Vipers, who will only play their next match a day later. That scenario offers Kitara a chance to momentarily claim the summit if they manage to secure all three points on the road.
Wasswa Bbosa’s team arrives in confident mood after a solid 2-0 win against Entebbe UPPC in their previous outing, a result that strengthened their growing title ambitions. However, Bbosa is cautious about the challenge that awaits his side in Bombo, a venue known to trouble visiting teams.

He noted that despite UPDF’s position near the bottom of the table, matches at the military side’s home ground often demand strong concentration and discipline.
While Kitara chase glory at the top, UPDF are battling at the opposite end of the standings. The army side sits second from bottom with only 12 points and is desperate for a positive result to keep its survival hopes alive as the season edges closer to its final stretch.
Historically, Kitara have enjoyed the upper hand in this fixture. In their seven Uganda Premier League meetings, Kitara have lost only twice and remain unbeaten in the last five encounters, winning four and drawing once. Still, with contrasting motivations driving both sides, Friday’s clash promises a tense contest between a title hopeful and a team fighting to avoid the drop.
