Magic Stormers will attempt to revive their campaign when they square off with KCCA Leopards in a National Basketball League showdown scheduled for Friday at Lugogo Indoor Arena.

The Stormers have endured a challenging start to the season, managing only one victory from their opening five games. Their lone triumph came in an emphatic 79–54 win over Nabisunsa, but that success has since been overshadowed by a string of three consecutive losses to UCU Lady Canons, JKL Lady Dolphins and Pearl Queens.

Their most recent defeat against Pearl Queens was particularly frustrating for the Stormers. After holding their opponents scoreless in the opening quarter, they failed to sustain the momentum and eventually slipped to defeat, producing a disappointing second-half display in which they managed just 12 points. On that night, none of the players reached double figures in scoring, although Mupalia Joy Nekesa still managed a notable effort with nine points and 12 rebounds.

Head coach John Omondi will be looking to his experienced players to respond strongly in the upcoming fixture. Key figures such as Daphine Adong, Kur Ajah, Mupalia, Auma Angella and new recruit Mauren Amoding will be expected to step up if the Stormers are to challenge one of the league’s competitive sides.

KCCA Leopards, meanwhile, have also experienced an inconsistent start to the season. Despite some promising moments, the team has struggled offensively in several games, including low-scoring defeats where they managed just 28 points against JT Lady Jaguars and 34 in another outing.

Part of their challenge has been a relatively thin squad, which has limited their rotation options. However, the Leopards have still shown flashes of quality, most notably when they stunned defending champions JKL Lady Dolphins in their season opener.

One player who has stood out for KCCA is Tracy Namugosa. She recently delivered an outstanding performance, pouring in 30 points in a win against Nabisunsa, and will again be central to the Leopards’ hopes of securing victory.

With both teams seeking consistency early in the season, Friday’s clash promises to be a crucial opportunity for either side to regain momentum in the league.
