The road to silverware in the 52nd Stanbic Uganda Cup has taken shape following Thursday morning’s semi-final draw held at Umoja House in Nakasero, setting up two compelling ties with a place in the final at stake.

The competition will now be decided over two legs, with teams battling home and away for aggregate superiority. The first round of fixtures is scheduled for early May, before the decisive return legs later in the month determine the finalists.

Defending champions Vipers SC face a stern test against Kitara FC in what promises to be a tightly contested duel. Kitara will enjoy home advantage in the opening leg, aiming to build a cushion before traveling for the return fixture. Both sides come into this stage with confidence after impressive quarterfinal performances—Vipers saw off NEC FC, while Kitara edged past Express FC. With Vipers chasing another title and Kitara looking to reaffirm their recent success, the tie carries significant weight.

In the other semi-final, URA FC have been paired with record holders SC Villa in a clash steeped in history. URA will host the first leg as they seek to gain an early advantage, but they face a Villa side eager to add to their rich trophy cabinet. The Jogoos, among the most successful teams in the competition, will be determined to assert their pedigree when they host the return leg.

Both teams had to dig deep to reach this stage—URA fought back to eliminate KCCA FC, while Villa comfortably dispatched Happy Boyz Kagaba. With past triumphs and pride on the line, their meeting is expected to be fiercely contested.

As the tournament narrows down to four contenders, the semi-finals promise drama, experience, and high stakes, with each club now just two matches away from a shot at lifting one of Uganda’s most prestigious domestic trophies.
