Maroons FC laid down a statement performance in Luzira, overpowering Police FC 3-1 in a lively inter-forces derby on Saturday.
The hosts wasted no time asserting their authority, racing into a commanding lead inside the opening 20 minutes and leaving the visitors chasing shadows for much of the contest. Marvin Oshaba set the tone against his former side, striking in the 12th minute before Ivan Mayanja quickly followed up with a second to stun the Cops.
Police struggled to cope with Maroons’ intensity but found a lifeline just before halftime when Deus Bukenya pulled one back, briefly raising hopes of a comeback.
Any momentum the visitors hoped to build after the break was swiftly extinguished. Maroons regrouped and tightened their grip on the game, eventually putting it beyond reach through Brian Nkuubi, whose goal restored the two-goal cushion and ensured a comfortable finish for the hosts.
The result sees Maroons climb into ninth place on 33 points, continuing their steady rise, while Police remain sixth with 41 points after failing to build on their recent form.
