Vipers SC could take a significant step toward tightening their grip on the Uganda Premier League title race when they welcome Entebbe UPPC to St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Sunday, with the opportunity to open a seven-point cushion at the summit.
The scenario has been shaped by KCCA’s setback against Calvary in Midigo, a result that stalled their chase on 51 points and opened the door for the leaders to pull away. With SC Villa and Kitara both winning their respective fixtures, the trio now sit level on points, but all remain in pursuit of the Venoms, who still hold a game in hand.
For head coach Jacky Ivan Minnaert, the message is clear—turn pressure into separation. However, standing in their way is an Entebbe UPPC side capable of causing problems on their day, despite a mixed run of form in the second round of the season.

Vipers will welcome the return of Enock Ssebagala after suspension, though concerns remain over the availability of Taddeo Lwanga, who is nursing an injury, and Chukwuma Odili, who is battling illness. Even so, the hosts retain enough depth and firepower to approach the contest as firm favourites.
Entebbe UPPC, currently sixth on 40 points, will look to striker Ambrose Kigozi to lead their attacking threat, supported by Steven Mungunchi, Hassan Ssenyonjo, Abraham Tusubira and Laban Tibita. A victory for Abdallah Mubiru’s side could lift them above Police, who slipped against Maroons on Saturday, adding extra incentive to their trip to Kitende.
The last meeting between these two sides ended narrowly in Vipers’ favour, with Karim Watambala’s second-half strike securing a 1-0 win—an outcome UPPC will be eager to avenge as they aim to disrupt the title race once again.
