KCCA head to Bombo on Wednesday knowing victory over UPDF could breathe fresh life into the Uganda Premier League title race following another slip by leaders Vipers SC.
The Lugogo side sit second on 55 points, six behind the table leaders, who were held to a third consecutive draw after a goalless outing against Police FC at Kiira Road. A win against UPDF would reduce that gap and pile pressure on the reigning champions with only a handful of matches remaining.
Despite UPDF’s position near the relegation zone, KCCA co-coach Jackson Magera believes the encounter will be anything but straightforward. The army side are fighting to avoid the drop and remain just four points above the relegation places.

Magera stressed that KCCA must stay focused and avoid complacency against a side battling for survival.
KCCA are boosted by the return of forward Said Mayanja, who missed the previous 3-0 victory over Maroons. His return strengthens an attack already led by top scorer Ivan Ahimbisibwe as the Kasasiro Boys chase maximum points.
History also favours the visitors. Since 2015, KCCA have lost only once in 17 league meetings against UPDF, winning 12 and drawing four. The first-round meeting this season ended in a dominant 4-0 victory for KCCA at Lugogo, with Sammy Ssebaduka scoring twice while Joel Sserunjogi and Thiery Alpha Ssali also found the net.
