Ugandan badminton stars have put up an impressive performance at the 2026 J.E. Wilson Ghana International Badminton Championship, securing three medals as the tournament enters its climax.
The tournament was held from August 12th to 16th at the Borteyman Sports Complex and the Adenta venue in Accra, Ghana.
Uganda won one silver and two bronze medals. The silver medal was secured by Lubega Muzafaru and Gladys Mbabazi in the mixed doubles category.
The two bronze medals went to Tracy Naluwooza and Nsubuga Reagan in mixed doubles, while Kruthum Nalumansi and Gladys Mbabazi claimed bronze in the women’s doubles.

The strong showing in Ghana provides valuable momentum for the Ugandan team as it continues its international campaign.
With three medals already secured in Ghana, Uganda will be hoping to build on this success and deliver more strong performances in Nigeria and Cameroon.

Uganda’s top seed, Muzafar Lubega, has also impressed in the professional mixed doubles category, where he partnered with Gladys Mbabazi.
Speaking after his victories, Lubega expressed his delight while praising the high level of competition at the championship.
“The event has had good competition; I have just been the most experienced. It is interesting that the sport has got new faces, and as Team Uganda, we have got exposure and stiff competition.”

Following the Ghana International, the Ugandan team will travel to Nigeria for the Lagos International, scheduled for 26–29 August 2026.
The team will then conclude its international tour at the Cameroon International, which will take place from 3–6 September 2026.
