He has conquered everything there is to conquer in two wheel drive category. Now Ibrahim Lubega ‘Pasuwa‘ wants to prove himself in four wheel class.
The multi-time 2WD champion, a household name in the Uganda rally fraternity, is set to make the big leap from 2WD to 4WD as he begins a fundraising drive for a Subaru N14.
Pasuwa has been untouchable in the two-wheel-drive class, regularly dominating in his iconic Toyota Corolla FX. The small car with the big heart has carried him to multiple Ugandan 2WD rally championships, including titles in 2020-2021 (following the delayed 2020 season) and again in 2024.
In the FMU paddock, the FX and Pasuwa became synonymous with 2WD excellence, sideways, fearless, and always at the top of the timesheets.
But every king eventually wants a bigger kingdom.
Sources close to the driver reveal that Pasuwa is now fundraising to acquire a Subaru N14, the tried and tested N-class weapon that has launched many Ugandan careers into the top tier. The machine is valued at between USD 40,000 – 50,000, a huge investment that underlines the scale of his ambition.
The move from a Toyota FX to a Subaru N14 is more than just a car change. It’s a statement of intent. More power, four-wheel drive, and a chance to fight with the big boys in the overall classification.
For years, Pasuwa has been the man to beat in 2WD. If the fundraising succeeds, Ugandan rally fans could soon see the 2WD king become a 4WD contender.
