The North is ready to roar. The CMC Gulu Rajiv Ruparelia Memorial Rally has closed its entries with a record 32 crews up from 27 last year confirming its growing status as one of Uganda’s favourite rounds.

The rally, scheduled for October 9-10 in Gulu, promises fireworks with all the big names on the entry list.

Championship leader Hassan Alwi, legend Ronald Ssebuguzi, hard-charging Duncan “Kikankane” Mubiru and evergreen Moses Lumala are all in, and each one is vowing to win for different reasons.

Moses Lumala

For Alwi, it is about sealing his maiden National title. He arrives in Gulu firmly in control of the 2026 NRC with 236 points, holding a massive 95-point advantage over second-placed Jonas Kansime (141 points).

For Lumala, it is about redemption chasing his first NRC event win since his return to the cockpit.

For Ssebuguzi, it is emotional. The four-time champion wants to give a decent farewell to his 2025 championship-winning car, which he has sold to Abdul Kateete.

The championship table tells the story of a tight chase behind Alwi:

NRC Top 5 Standings:
Alwi – 236 pts
Kansime – 141 pts
Lumala – 140 pts
Mubiru – 129 pts
Umar Dauda – 107.5 pts

Only 12 points separate Kansime, Lumala and Mubiru, making Gulu a potential turning point as the championship enters its closing stages. 32 crews. One dusty battleground. Who will conquer Gulu?
