Uganda Squash Ladies team wins bronze at the all Africa Senior Championships

The All Africa Open Squash Championship 2024 in Namibia came to an electrifying close today, Sunday after a top-notch competition showcasing both local and international talent.

Uganda Squash National Ladies team secures bronze in the championships that took place at the Wanderers Squash courts, Windhoek, Namibia.

The championship commence from 18th to 24th November 2024 in Namibia, in collaboration with the Namibia Squash Association (NSA) and Trustco Group Holdings has main Sponsors and over forty players from across Africa Including representatives from Zambia, Zimbabwe, Uganda, Nigeria, Egypt, South Africa and hosts Namibia.

Uganda Ladies team finish third placed after defeat by the hosts Namibia who took silver and Nigeria crowned champions of women’s category.

The two Ladies that secured bronze for Uganda include Elizabeth Musiimenta and Safinah Mugide express their gratitude to the press after clinching bronze in Namibia at wanderers squash courts.

“I am humbled for this win. This is my first for the All Africa Squash Championship Open. I salute my opponents and the rest of the players. Special thanks to the Uganda Squash Rackets Association, the main organizers and the rest of the sponsors,” Elizabeth Musiimenta stated.

“ The bronze Victory in the women’s category is good consolation and I am happy for this Bronze medals. I thank God, my coaches and training members who have always helped me prepare. This victory shapes me for other upcoming championships,” Nantambi stated.

Nigeria had outstanding performance in winning both the Men’s and Ladies’ Team Divisions. Additionally, Dewald van Niekerk from South Africa won the Men’s Individual title and Rana Ismael from Egypt took the Ladies’ Individual competition.

In the men’s Category, Team Uganda took fifth ace with gold going to Nigeria, Silver to Namibia and bronze to Zimbabwe .

The officials who traveled by the team are Mr Isa Bbale (the Vice president of the Uganda Squash Rackets Association) and the General secretary Shifah Nantambi .
