In a thrilling match at the Lutoboka playground in Kalangala, Ssese Ssaza edged defending champions Buddu 1-0 in the Bulange group of the 2025 Buganda Masaza Cup. Alaphat Muyanja scored the decisive goal in the second half, which Buddu couldn’t overcome.

History Repeats: No Team Has Won Back-to-Back Titles Since 2004

Buddu’s exit marks another chapter in the Masaza Cup’s history, where no team has managed to win back-to-back titles since 2004. With just one game remaining, it seems unlikely that Buddu will break this trend.

Current Standings: Buddu’s Chances Officially Over

After nine games, Buddu has accumulated only 9 points in the Bulange Group, while Busujju, Buluuli, and Ssese are tied at 15 points each. Busiro has 8 points, and record winners Gomba are at the bottom with 6 points. With Buluuli having two games left and Busujju and Ssese having one game in hand, Buddu’s chances of qualification are officially over. Gomba and Busiro are also out of the competition.

Ssese, Buluuli, and Busujju Near Qualification

Ssese, Buluuli, and Busujju are in a strong position to qualify for the last eight, needing just at least a point in their remaining games to secure their slot
