The Uganda Cricket Association (UCA) has officially launched its new jersey, a design that honors tradition while embracing the future. This move is part of the association’s transformation into Cricket Uganda, a process that has entered its marketing phase.

New Jersey Design
The jersey features the future name “Cricket Uganda” boldly emblazoned across it, symbolizing a new era. The design is primarily yellow with subtle lemon accents, while the sleeves feature Uganda’s national colors – black, yellow, and red. The kit is completed with partner branding from LycaMobile, the team’s principal financier.

Cultural Symbolism
The jersey’s design is unique, with subtle drawings that capture Uganda’s beauty, including:
- Mountain ranges
- Silverback gorillas
- Elephants
- Buffaloes
- Kobs
- White rhinos
- Long-horned cattle
- The iconic crested crane
- The Jinja Nile Bridge
Inspiration Behind the Design
According to Elijah Mangeni Wanyama, the jersey designer, the design aims to showcase Uganda’s natural beauty and cultural heritage. UCA Hon. Secretary Denis Musali added that the new kit was designed to mark the entry into a new World Cup cycle for both the Cricket Cranes and the Victoria Pearls.

The Victoria Pearls will debut the new kit at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier (Finals) in Windhoek, Namibia, while the Cricket Cranes will wear the same kit later this year as they head to Zimbabwe for their qualifiers.
