At just 21, Ssali Alpha Thierry finds himself carrying more than just a new contract—he carries expectation. KCCA FC has handed the former NEC FC winger a two-year deal, but the bigger task lies ahead: proving he can step into the spotlight at Lugogo and help restore the Cityzens’ attacking firepower.
Alpha is no stranger to pressure. Twice he represented Uganda at the AFCON U20 finals, in 2021 and 2023, showing glimpses of his pace, trickery, and versatility on both flanks. Now, those flashes must become consistent performances in a squad aiming to challenge for silverware on multiple fronts.
For KCCA, this signing isn’t only about football. Alpha is the grandson of the late ‘Mister’ Jaberi Bidandi Ssali, a founding father of the club and a giant in its history. That connection gives the transfer a symbolic weight, but Alpha knows he will ultimately be judged not by his surname, but by what he delivers on the pitch.
“It is a dream come true to join KCCA FC, a club with such an incredible history and one that my family has a huge attachment to. I feel a special connection here, and I am ready to compete with my mates and help the team win,” Alpha said after signing.

Co-head coach Brian Ssenyondo echoed the belief in his potential:
“Alpha is a player with huge potential and a fantastic attitude. His ability to play on both wings gives us great flexibility. We are confident he will be a key asset for us.”
Club legend and board member Tom Lwanga also weighed in, highlighting the emotional link to the past:
“Having Ssali Alpha Thierry, the grandson of ‘Mister’ Jaberi Bidandi Ssali, join KCCA FC upholds Mister’s rich legacy. It connects a new generation of talent to the club’s foundational history.”
Alpha becomes the sixth signing of an ambitious window that has already seen the likes of Enock Walusimbi, Ivan Ahimbisibwe, and Rogers Mugisha join the ranks. But while the transfer activity reflects intent, the real test will be whether this young winger can transform potential into impact on the pitch.
For all the nostalgia of his family’s connection, KCCA needs results. And for Alpha Thierry, the time to step up is now.
