The Uganda Premier League served up thrilling midweek clashes on Wednesday as Entebbe UPPC staged a late comeback to defeat Lugazi FC 2-1 at Bugonga Ground in Entebbe, while BUL FC edged Maroons 1-0 at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru.

Entebbe UPPC fans were treated to a dramatic evening as their side, playing in front of a noisy home crowd, rallied from behind to secure their first home victory of the season. Lugazi FC looked in control early on when Freedom Mungudit opened the scoring in the 24th minute, silencing the crowd with a composed finish.

But after the break, Entebbe UPPC grew stronger, piling pressure on the visitors. Their persistence paid off when Issa Bugembe levelled matters in the 63rd minute with a well-taken goal. The momentum shifted, and in the dying moments of the game, substitute Fazil Tumwine turned hero for the hosts, striking in the 83rd minute to complete the turnaround and seal the three points.

Meanwhile, at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru, BUL FC showed their resilience once again with a narrow but important 1-0 win over Maroons. The decisive moment came in the 36th minute when Ibrahim Mugulusi, benefiting from a clever assist by Martin Aprem, found the back of the net. Despite Maroons pushing hard for an equaliser, BUL’s disciplined defence ensured they held on for maximum points.

The results underline BUL’s status as one of the early season contenders, while Entebbe UPPC will draw confidence from their spirited comeback as they continue to fight for consistency in the top flight.
